About Us — Family-Run Homestay Since 2020 | Phu Quoc Homestay

Phu Quoc Homestay is a family-run guesthouse located in Duong Dong, the heart of Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. We opened our doors in 2020 with a simple mission: to provide comfortable, affordable accommodation for travelers from around the world.

Our Story

After years of traveling across Southeast Asia, we fell in love with Phu Quoc — its pristine beaches, warm people, and incredible food. We decided to make this tropical island our home and share it with fellow travelers.

What started as a small guesthouse has grown into a welcoming homestay with private rooms, family rooms, and long-term rental options. We've hosted hundreds of guests from over 30 countries — from backpackers on short trips to digital nomads staying for months.

What Makes Us Different

  • Personal touch — We're not a faceless hotel chain. We live here, and we treat every guest like family. Need restaurant recommendations? Airport pickup? Help renting a motorbike? Just ask.
  • Multilingual host — We speak Russian, English, and Vietnamese fluently. No language barrier, no miscommunication.
  • Best price guarantee — When you book directly with us, you get the lowest price — no commission fees that platforms like Booking.com charge.
  • Local expertise — We've lived on Phu Quoc for years. Our blog is full of insider tips and guides that only a local would know.

Our Values

We believe in honest pricing — no hidden fees, no tourist markups. We believe in sustainability — we minimize waste, use energy-efficient appliances, and support local businesses. And we believe in community — we partner with local tour operators, restaurants, and schools to give back to the island we call home.

Meet the Team

SH

Sabrina — Host & Owner

Originally from Russia, Sabrina has lived on Phu Quoc since 2019. She manages the homestay, handles guest relations, and writes our travel guides. She's your go-to person for anything you need on the island.

Our Approach to Hospitality

We have a simple philosophy: treat every guest the way we would want to be treated when traveling in a foreign country. That means being genuinely helpful — not just responsive, but proactive. When you arrive, we do not just hand you a key and disappear. We sit down with you, learn about your travel plans, and share personalized recommendations based on your interests, budget, and the length of your stay.

If you love seafood, we will tell you which Night Market stall has the freshest catch today. If you want a quiet beach, we know the hidden spots that tour buses do not reach. If you need a specific type of power adapter, a pharmacy recommendation, or help communicating with a local business, we are there. This level of personal service is something hotels simply cannot match — it comes from living on the island and genuinely caring about our guests' experience.

We also believe in transparency. Our pricing is published openly on our website with no hidden fees or surprise charges. The price you see is the price you pay. When you book directly with us, you know you are getting the real rate — not an inflated price with platform commissions baked in.

Sustainability and Community

Living on a tropical island teaches you to respect the environment. Phu Quoc is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and we take our responsibility to protect it seriously. Here is what we do:

  • Waste reduction: We use refillable soap and shampoo dispensers instead of single-use plastic bottles. We provide reusable water bottles and filtered water stations instead of selling plastic water bottles. Kitchen waste is composted in our garden.
  • Energy efficiency: All rooms use inverter-type air conditioning units that consume 30-40% less electricity than standard models. LED lighting is used throughout the property. Solar water heating supplements our hot water system.
  • Local sourcing: We buy produce, seafood, and supplies from local markets and Vietnamese-owned businesses whenever possible. Our breakfast eggs come from a farm on the island. The coffee is locally grown Vietnamese robusta and arabica.
  • Community support: We partner with local tour guides, motorbike rental operators, and restaurants rather than large corporate operators. This keeps tourist money circulating in the local community rather than flowing to international chains.
  • Beach cleanups: We participate in periodic beach cleanup events organized by the local community. Guests are always welcome to join — it is a great way to meet locals and give back to the island.

What Guests Can Expect

When you choose Phu Quoc Homestay, here is what you can count on:

  • Clean, comfortable rooms that match our photos and descriptions — no surprises, no disappointments.
  • Reliable, fast internet (50+ Mbps fiber WiFi) that actually works — tested and maintained regularly.
  • A safe, quiet neighborhood in central Duong Dong with easy access to beaches, markets, and attractions.
  • A personal host who speaks your language (Russian, English, Vietnamese) and is available to help with anything.
  • Fair, transparent pricing with no hidden fees and the best rate guaranteed when you book directly.
  • A welcoming community of fellow travelers around the pool and common areas — many of our guests become friends during their stay.

Our Location in Duong Dong

We chose Duong Dong for our homestay location because it offers the perfect balance of convenience and authenticity. Unlike the resort-heavy south of the island, Duong Dong is where locals actually live and work. You will find yourself surrounded by real Vietnamese life — morning markets, street food vendors, fishing boats at the harbor, and families going about their daily routines.

At the same time, all tourist amenities are within easy reach: Long Beach is five minutes away, the Night Market is five minutes in the other direction, and the airport is a quick fifteen-minute drive. This combination of local authenticity and tourist convenience is rare on Phu Quoc, and our guests consistently cite location as one of the top reasons they loved staying with us.

To see our exact location with distances to major attractions, visit our location page with Google Maps. To see what guests say about their experience, read our reviews. And when you are ready, explore our rooms and book your stay.

The Phu Quoc We Know and Love

After living on Phu Quoc for several years, we have watched the island transform from a sleepy fishing community into an internationally recognized destination — and yet, the soul of the island remains unchanged. The fishermen still haul their nets at dawn. The pepper farmers still tend their vines by hand. The Night Market vendors still grill seafood over charcoal with the same techniques passed down through generations. This authentic character is what drew us here, and it is what keeps our guests coming back year after year.

We have explored every corner of the island — from the pristine northern beaches where starfish carpet the shallow waters, to the southern archipelago where snorkelers discover coral gardens teeming with tropical fish. We have trekked through the UNESCO-protected national park, tasted fish sauce at every factory, and eaten at hundreds of restaurants from humble street stalls to beachfront dining rooms. This deep local knowledge is something we share freely with every guest. When you ask us for a recommendation, you are getting advice from people who actually live here and genuinely care about your experience — not a hotel concierge reading from a sponsored list.

Our dream is simple: we want every guest who stays at Phu Quoc Homestay to leave with the same love for this island that we feel every day. Whether you stay for two nights or two months, we hope the sunrise over the garden, the sound of palm trees in the wind, and the warmth of Vietnamese hospitality stay with you long after you return home. That is the experience we are building here — one guest, one stay, one smile at a time.

We invite you to be part of our story. Browse our rooms, check our seasonal pricing, read what past guests have to say, and when you are ready, get in touch. We cannot wait to welcome you to Phu Quoc Homestay.
